Ziidi Trader Just Made the NSE Accessible From Your M-PESA Wallet

 — Here’s Why That Matters for Your Charts

Safaricom’s new Ziidi Trader feature has quietly removed one of the biggest barriers to Kenyan retail investing: the account-opening process itself. If you’ve been following our Nairobi Securities Exchange coverage but never actually opened a trading account, this changes things.

What Ziidi Trader Actually Is

Ziidi Trader is a mini-app built directly into the M-PESA app, launched by Safaricom in partnership with the NSE and regulated by the Capital Markets Authority. It lets any M-PESA user buy and sell NSE-listed shares — and some bonds — straight from their phone, without opening a separate Central Depository System (CDS) account or going through a traditional stockbroker first.

In practice, buying a share now works the same way as sending money to a friend or paying an electricity bill.

Why This Is a Big Deal

Historically, only a small fraction of Kenyans registered to invest on the NSE actually traded — the account setup and broker relationship required were enough friction to keep most people on the sidelines. Ziidi Trader collapses that entire onboarding process into an app most Kenyans already have installed.

For our community specifically, this matters because it lowers the barrier between “reading an Elliott Wave chart” and “acting on it.” You no longer need a broker relationship in place before a setup completes — you can be positioned within minutes of a wave count confirming.

What This Means for EW Nation’s NSE Coverage

We’ll continue publishing wave counts and signal updates across NSE-listed names the way we always have. The difference now is that more of you can actually execute on those setups without the usual account-opening delay. If you’ve been sitting out our NSE analysis because you didn’t have a brokerage account, that excuse just went away.

As always — Ziidi Trader gives you access to the market. It doesn’t tell you when to buy or sell. That’s still where structure, wave counts, and discipline do the work. Use the access, but bring the analysis.

A Quick Reminder

Ziidi Trader is a distribution and execution channel, not a signal source. Nothing here is financial advice — always do your own due diligence and size positions according to your own risk tolerance before entering any trade.
